Angela Reakes had a standout performance for the ACT XI against the Southern Stars at Manuka Oval last Friday. Reakes scored a classy 103 runs with 13 boundaries in ACT’s chase against Australia. She also maintained a strong 112-run partnership with fellow Sixer Marizanne Kapp (61 runs) after being seven wickets down.
Sixers captain Ellyse Perry had a great impact with both the bat and ball, scoring 58 runs in the first innings, taking two wickets and claiming a runout. Alyssa Healy smashed a total of 7 fours and a six in her two innings of 24 and 27 for Australia. Lauren Cheatle and Ash Gardner also picked up one wicket apiece in the match.
In Blacktown, Sixers bowlers Lauren Smith and Sarah Aley represented CA XI against England. Smith was impressive with the ball, taking a total of four wickets in the match including experienced player Katherine Brunt. Aley took one wicket in the game but maintained a solid economy rate after bowling a total of 34 overs.
The Women’s Ashes test begins on Thursday at North Sydney Oval from 2:30pm.
