The Sydney Sixers have today completed their list ahead of the KFC BBL|13 season, with the addition of Victorian young gun, Mitch Perry.
The 23-year-old seamer earns a return to the Big Bash after spending the BBL|10 season with the Melbourne Renegades – the same side the Sixers will open their season against on Friday night at the SCG.
Making his Marsh One-Day Cup debut in November 2019, a Sheffield Shield cap followed the next year, selected in Victoria’s Shield side in October 2020.
One of Victoria’s leading Shield wicket-takers last summer, Perry collected an impressive 29 wickets across his nine matches – eighth most in the league for the season.
Now with 33 first-class appearances to his name, Perry has claimed a total of 91 wickets including his first five-wicket haul (5/64) against South Australia earlier this year.
Head of Sydney Sixers, Rachael Haynes said the young quick had earned his recall to the Big Bash.
“Mitch has some prior experience in this competition, having been a part of the Renegades a few years ago and has earned a recall through a number of impressive performances for Victoria.
“For a young player like Mitch to have the opportunity to be around and learn from some of the most experienced players and coaches in the world will benefit him hugely.
“We see Jackson Bird as being someone who is a great mentor to younger players and Mitch as someone that could benefit immensely from working with him.
“We’re thrilled to have filled our primary list spots for the season ahead and we know our members and fans can’t wait to see the boys get their season underway on December 8 at the SCG.”
The Sixers will open their KFC BBL|13 season on Friday, December 8 taking on the Melbourne Renegades at the SCG.
