Squad locked in for hit-out with Hurricanes

The Sydney Sixers have named a 14-player extended squad for their road trip to Launceston to face the Hobart Hurricanes on Monday night.

The Sixers will be looking to secure back-to-back wins to open their BBL|13 account, successfully taking down the Melbourne Renegades on Friday night at the SCG.

Following his explosive stint in magenta last summer, the return of Steve Smith was highly anticipated by fans across the league.

Picking up where he left off last season, Smith starred on his first appearance for the year, notching 61 (from 42) as the Sixers stacked on 175 runs.

Ben Dwarshuis was the standout with the ball, collecting 3/36 including the prized wicket of dangerous young-gun Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Todd Murphy returns to the extended squad for Monday night following his inclusion in the Prime Minister’s XI and is available for selection tomorrow.

Sean Abbott has remained in Sydney for this fixture due to personal family reasons.

First ball of Monday night’s match is scheduled for 7.15pm (AEDT) at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston and will be broadcast live via Channel 7, Foxtel and Kayo.
