Sixers squad named for clash with Strikers

The Sydney Sixers have named a 13-player squad for Tuesday night’s clash with reigning WBBL champions, the Adelaide Strikers at North Sydney Oval.

The Sixers will head into Tuesday night on a high, on the back of an all-time epic in Adelaide on Sunday, defeating the Melbourne Renegades by three wickets.

Set a total of 179 for victory, skipper Ellyse Perry, led from the front with the bat, belting 81 (from 38 deliveries), buoyed by international duo Hollie Armitage (30 from 23) and Sarah Bryce (36*).

The Sixers welcomed four new faces on Sunday, with Caoimhe Bray, Frankie Nicklin and Courtney Sippel joining Bryce for their first outing in pink.

Sixers quick, Maitlan Brown returns to the extended squad for Tuesday night’s match, while Kate Peterson and Mathilda Carmichael will sit out of the clash with the Strikers, with the injured pair to be reassessed during the week.

Elsa Hunter has been named a local replacement for Peterson and will be required to be named in the starting 12 tomorrow as per league rules. If selected, Hunter would be the fifth debutant for the club this week.

Tuesday night will additionally mark the club’s First Nations match, with players donning shirts designed by local artist and Wiradjuri woman, Lua Pellegrini.

First ball of tomorrow night’s match is scheduled for 6.10pm (AEDT) with the match live on Foxtel, Kayo and ABC Sport.

Gates open at 5.10pm at North Sydney Oval. Tickets are available here.
