Young quick secured for two

The Sydney Sixers are a step closer to finalising their playing list ahead of KFC BBL|14, with the re-signing of young quick Mitch Perry for the next two seasons.

Making his first appearance in the Big Bash at just 20 years of age, Perry spent one season with the Melbourne Renegades in BBL|10, before earning a recall to the competition last summer, joining the Sixers for his first season in pink.

Born and bred in Victoria, Perry made his One-Day Cup debut as a teenager in 2019, with a Sheffield Shield cap following a year later, selected in Victoria’s Shield side in 2020.

One of the most impressive up-and-coming quicks in the country, Perry collected 23 scalps from his ten Shield matches last summer, to add to his career total of 103 first-class wickets to date.

Perry and his Sixers teammates are set to welcome his former side with new head coach – and former Sixers assistant – Cameron White, to the SCG on December 16, kicking off their season with one of the summer's must-see matches.

Sydney Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said Perry is an exciting part of the club’s future.

“We’re incredibly lucky as a club to have had such a consistent group together for a significant amount of time, but it’s important that we’re always looking ahead to the future and to the next crop of young players coming through the ranks.

“Mitch brings a fantastic attitude to our group and is someone who is eager to learn. For Mitch, the opportunity to be around our squad and to work with some of the most experienced players and coaches in the world, will continue to benefit him greatly.

"There’s so much for our members and fans to look forward to this summer, and we’re hoping to see them pack out the SCG for our first game on December 16.”

Perry’s re-signing leaves one domestic list spot currently available for the upcoming season.
