Tape ball, traditionally played on the streets with a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape, is to Pakistan culture what backyard cricket is to Australians. After originating in the streets of Karachi in the 1960’s, the format has also become popular amongst Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Nepalese communities.
The Sydney Sixers Tape Ball League will start in April and be played over two separate locations.
Locations:
Newcastle - Sunday 6th April, Ernie Calland an Allen Davis Fields, Gateshead (9am - 6pm)
Coffs Harbour - Sunday 13th April, Wiigulga Sports Complex (2:30pm - 8:30pm)
Rules and Regulations:
- $25 per player
- 8 players per team
- 6 overs per innings
- Bowl from one end
- No LBWs
- No pads, gloves, or helmets required
- Tape Ball regulated bats only
- Tape Balls provided by Sydney Sixers
