Bryce a Sixer for WBBL|10

The Sydney Sixers have added depth to their Weber WBBL|10 squad ahead of the opening weekend of the competition, signing Scottish associate rookie, Sarah Bryce, for the season ahead.

The younger sister of Scotland captain, Kathryn, Bryce is an accomplished wicketkeeper and a powerful top-order batter.

Under the league’s Associate Player rule, each club has the opportunity to sign one associate for the upcoming season, with the signing supported by the players’ home board and the ICC.

The associate sits outside of the club’s main playing squad but can be to be added as a replacement player and played as a fourth international in a side’s starting XI.

Making her first County appearance for Scotland in 2015, at just 15 years of age, Bryce has since cemented herself as a permanent fixture in the national side.

Selected in Scotland’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 qualifier tournament in 2018, Bryce made her T20I debut in July of that year, ending the tournament as the leading run-scorer for her home nation, with 162 runs from five appearances.

Signing with the Oval Invincibles for the inaugural season of The Hundred, the keeper-bat was part of the club’s championship win in 2021, before joining the Welsh Fire the following year.

The season ahead won’t be Bryce’s first taste of the WBBL, with the now 24-year-old undertaking a brief stint with the Hobart Hurricanes during WBBL|03 as part of the associate program.

Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said Bryce provides great cover both as a top-order bat and behind the stumps.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah into our group for the season ahead. She provides us with another strong option at the top of the order, as well as behind the stumps.

“She’s played a huge amount of cricket around the world for a 24-year-old and is a really experienced leader within the Scottish side.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming Sarah and we can’t wait to get started on Sunday in Adelaide.”

The Sixers have one domestic list spot remaining for Weber WBBL|10, set to be announced later this week.

The Sixers will officially kick off their WBBL|10 season in Adelaide on Sunday, facing the Melbourne Renegades.

Sixers fans will have the opportunity to see their side at home with matches at North Sydney Oval on October 29, November 1, and November 14, as well as in the Stadium Series at the SCG on November 10.
