Australian hip-hop sensation Baker Boy is set to headline the biggest event on the KFC BBL calendar – the Boxing Day Bash – when the Sydney Sixers host the Melbourne Stars at the SCG on December 26.
One of sport’s most iconic days, Boxing Day will see the Sixers face their traditional Melbourne rivals, the Stars, on their home turf following the first day of the Test Match at the MCG.
Known to his fans as ‘The New Prince of Arnhem Land’, Baker Boy is a proud Yolngu man and a multi-talented performer and artist, recognised for his music incorporating hip-hop, rap and R&B with English and Yolngu Matha language.
Boasting over 90 million streams worldwide, the star is set to light up the innings break at the SCG with his infectious fresh hits, including In Control, Cool As Hell and KING.
No stranger to the sporting arena, Baker Boy took to the stage as the pre-show entertainment for the 2021 AFL Grand Final and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Quickly becoming one of the must-see events of the summer, the Boxing Day Bash returns to the SCG for third season, bigger and better than ever, with a supersized match day experience.
Sydney Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said the club is thrilled to have the Australian star perform on cricket’s biggest day.
“Boxing Day is such an iconic fixture on the cricket calendar, and we’re pumped that the Boxing Day Bash is becoming a ritual for fans each year at the SCG.
“We’ve focused heavily this season on elevating our event experience, and we want to ensure that our match days are a place for the cricket fans, but also for the families and friends who are looking for good food, great music and an entertaining summer night out.
“Whether you’re a cricket fan or not, Boxing Day at the SCG has something for everyone, and we couldn’t be more excited for Baker Boy to celebrate with us this summer.”
In addition to Baker Boy’s performance, fans can expect premium food and beverage options, family activities and the addition of a brand-new live site operating on The Plaza between the SCG and Allianz Stadium across the afternoon to enjoy the final session of the Boxing Day Test.
