The Sydney Sixers have named 14-player squad for Saturday night’s Sydney Smash, taking on crosstown rivals Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium.
Veteran batter Daniel Hughes was ruled out for the remainder of the season earlier this week, with scans confirming an elbow injury after landing awkwardly in the field on Monday night.
West Indian all-rounder Akeal Hosein comes into the extended squad for Saturday night's match, ahead of his six-match stint with the club.
The #1 ranked T20 bowler in the world, Hosein was pre-signed by the Sixers earlier in the year under newly introduced rules by the league allowing each club to secure one international player ahead of the BBL Draft.
Of 25 meetings between the two sides to date, the Sixers have claimed victory 16 times, with Sydney’s top team looking to add a 17th win to the board on Saturday night.
First ball of Saturday night’s match is scheduled for 7.15pm and will be broadcast live on Fox Cricket, available on Foxtel and Kayo Sports, and via radio on ABC Sport and SEN.
