Sixers trio in final Australian squad for Champions Trophy

The National Selection Panel (NSP) has named three Sydney Sixers players in a final 15-player Australian squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy.

Steve Smith has been named skipper of the side that also includes Sixers bowling allrounders Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis.

While Smith has enjoyed a storied career at the top level in ODI cricket, the selections of Abbott and Dwarshuis are reward for effort and potential for NSW and the Sixers.

Abbott has been capped 26 times in ODIs, including one match during Australia's victorious 2023 World Cup campaign in India.

Dwarshuis' only previous ODI for Australia came against England at Trent Bridge during last year's white-ball tour of the UK, when he was called up as a late replacement and injured on debut.
