All-rounder
Erin Burns enters her fourth season with the Sixers in WBBL|06 and the good news is that the allrounder has signed until the end of WBBL|07!
Since arriving at the Sixers from the Hobart Hurricanes in 2017, Burns has been integral to the team’s success including the WBBL|03 title.
Burns is the complete allrounder. In three seasons with the Sixers, she has scored more than 700 runs at a strike rate nearing 120, taken 23 wickets at an average less than 20 and provided some of the most memorable moments in the field.
Her full-length dive on the Drummoyne Oval boundary rope in the WBBL|04 semi-final against the Melbourne Renegades that stopped a boundary and led to a famous run out, ultimately sealing a berth in the Final, will never be forgotten.
Some outstanding catches and precision throwing, honed hurling the javelin as a young athlete, have Burns regarded as one of the best fielders in the world.
In September 2019, Burns made her One-Day and T20 lnternational debuts for Australia within a week of each other.
Both debuts came in the Caribbean against the host nation, at 31 years of age, just reward for the hard work and determination that Burns has demonstrated throughout her career, particularly at the Sixers.
Burns was part of the Australian squad that won the Women’s T20 World Cup on home soil in March 2020.
Prior to that, in December 2019, Burns reminded everyone of her explosive ability with the bat scoring 107 from 59 deliveries for an Australia A side against India A.
Season 2019/20 was Burns’ first with the NSW Breakers. The allrounder returned to her state of birth after several years with Tasmania and then the ACT Meteors. However, due to injury and International selection Burns is yet to make her debut in Blue.
